Perched high above the sparkling Ionian Sea, Taormina is one of Sicily's most enchanting towns. Ancient streets wind between elegant palazzi, tiny cafés and colourful balconies, while Mount Etna rises dramatically in the distance. There is history here, certainly, but Taormina is perhaps best enjoyed without trying to see everything.
